Brian Massey is the founder of Conversion Sciences LLC and author of the book Your Customer Creation Equation. 

His rare combination of interests and experience was developed over 30 years as a computer programmer, entrepreneur, corporate marketer, international speaker, and writer. 

Founded in 2007, Conversion Sciences helps businesses transform their sites through a steady diet of visitor profiling, purposeful content, analytics, and AB testing. Massey has worked with hundreds of companies to improve their online business. He is a sought-after speaker, presenting at IBM, Inbound, LeadsCon, Content Marketing World, Affiliate Summit, and others. He has written for online publications including ClickZ, Search Engine Land and Marketing Land. 

Massey is the host of the Intended Consequences podcast. 

Dan Morisaku sits on the board of the Self Storage Association Asia and is a senior member with Ichigo and Storage Plus. Dan will bring his self storage experience and his focus on sustainable future-proofing to the unconference for our benefit. 

Ichigo is a Japanese sustainable infrastructure company working to bring sustainable practices to all facets of the business world. 

Ichigo believes we have entered an era when humanity must step lightly on our planet and learn to do more with less. Through its business model of preserving and improving existing buildings, Ichigo has already built an extensive track record in sustainable real estate. 

Storage Plus operates more than 30 self storage locations in Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Sapporo.

Howard Pryor is a developer and operator who runs the SpareSpace Storage brand. He spent 7 years as the director of acquisitions for US Storage Centers and served as the president of the Florida Self Storage Association. Howard was in attendance for the 2011 Self Storage Hawai'i unconference. Howard has attributed much of his success to clearly defining his goals for partners, vendors, employees, and others in order to get to the right outcomes. 

Alex has been an active investor, developer, and operator of self-storage and portable storage businesses. You'll want to talk with him about his experiences using self-storage operations strategies in his portable storage business. The topic he'll explore in our sessions is an uncomfortable one many of us deal with every day. How do we handle our homeless customers? Homelessness comes in many forms and effects people across many specturms of our communities. Self-storage is an important service for the homeless. How do we best manage those relationships?

Lauren Brychell is an Investor Relations Manager at Spartan Investment Group, LLC. In this role, Lauren brings her skills in passive investor education and self-storage investments to assist the team with capital raises, investor facing collateral, communications, and more.

Lauren graduated from Belmont Abbey College with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing and a minor in Entrepreneurship.

In 2020, Spartan was named one of the fastest-growing companies by Inc. 500, and 8th in the real estate industry. Today, Spartan is a team of 30, spread out over four states with offices in Denver and Seattle.

Daniel “Kaniela” Kahikina Akaka, Jr., born in Honolulu, attended the Kamehameha Schools and the University of Hawai‘i where he earned a bachelor’s degree in the Hawaiian Studies Program. Mr. Akaka has been employed at the Mauna Lani Resort on the Island of Hawai‘i since 1988. He is currently the Director of Cultural Affairs, where he educates the public about Hawaii’s culture and history. 

Mr. Akaka’s career has also included Aloha Airlines, Hawaiian Holidays, Hawaiian Foliage & Landscaping, the Hawai‘i Maritime Center and the Director of Corporate Affairs for American Hawai‘i Cruises. 

He sailed the open seas as a crew member of the Hokule‘a for three of its voyages. The Hokule’a is a reproduction of a typical ancient double-hulled Hawaiian long distance ocean voyaging canoe.  It’s maiden voyage in 1975 helped spark a renewal of Hawaiian cultural traditions and seafaring skills. It had been some 600 years since a vessel of that type had sailed the Hawaiian islands. 

Mr. Akaka has been at each of the Self Storage Hawai'i unConferences to help us get a better feel for the marvelous places and the wonderful people of the Hawaiian Islands. 

Mr. Akaka continues to nurture the culture, the essence, and the Spirit of Hawai‘i. Mr. Akaka is an active Board Member of the Bishop Museum, the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame, the Pohakuloa Cultural Advisory Committee and the Akaka Foundation for Tropical Forests.
